The
Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet cares for
hundreds of homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens each
day. We depend on our volunteers to help us help the animals!

HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER:
1) Attend a Humane Society of Greater Miami volunteer orientation (dates listed below).
2) Decide what type(s) of work you'd like to do (for example: dog walking). Choose what you're most interested in--our staff and experienced volunteers will train you as you go!
3) Come to the shelter, sign in and get started!
Once you have attended the orientation, you can begin volunteering as early as the next business day. You can volunteer any time during our business hours (Tuesday-Sunday, 11am-7pm).
Note: Dog walking will not be available as a volunteer task on the second Wednesday of every month due to chemical treatment of the outside areas of the facility. Volunteers are welcome to come visit and play with the dogs inside the shelter on those days.
All
volunteers must be at least 16 years of age (due to company insurance policies) and must attend
our volunteer orientation before they begin volunteering. Unfortunately we are unable to make exceptions to these rules. (Kids
can help animals too! Find out how! )
Listed below are the dates for upcoming volunteer
orientations, held at 11:30am on the first Saturday of every month
at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center. (See map) The orientation is approximately 2 hours long. Please wear jeans/pants and comfortable, closed-toed shoes. All you need to bring is a photo ID!
***Due to space constraints, Volunteer Orientations are limited to the first 60 people who sign in that morning. There will be a clipboard at the front counter—please arrive as early as possible (the shelter opens at 11am) to sign in and reserve your spot.***
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your interest in volunteering with us.
At this time we do not offer custom orientations; if you have missed the scheduled orientation, please attend the following month.
